What is the difference between Team Building for Fun and Team Building for Growth?
Fun is all about the experience itself! We bring the games, the equipment and the energy, and your team goes home connected and in great spirits. Growth starts from an outcome you want to shift, with structured reflection built in so the day ends in commitments your team keeps. Many activities work for both, while a few, like We Can Sell It and Lego Serious Play, are built for Growth only.
Is a fun day enough, or do we need Growth?
It comes down to what you’d love to be different afterwards. If you want to reconnect the team, welcome new people properly or celebrate the end of a tough quarter, a Fun day does that beautifully. Growth is the right call when something specific needs to shift, like people not speaking up or two teams not gelling since a restructure. Tell us what’s going on and we’ll give you a straight answer.
What does a facilitator actually do on a fun day?
So much more than running the games! Our facilitators read the room throughout, lifting the energy when it dips, giving the quieter person a role that suits them, and keeping the competition sharp without letting it tip over. That’s why you get to enjoy the day rather than manage it. Our facilitators are trained to the standard set by our founders James and Barbara, and both still lead sessions personally.
What actually happens on a fun day?
It’s easy and relaxed! Your facilitator opens with a warm welcome and an energiser to get everyone warmed up, teams are formed in about five minutes, then the fun begins, and the session closes with the winners crowned properly. There’s nothing for your team to prepare beforehand and no debrief afterwards. They arrive, they play, and they head off buzzing. The equipment, the run sheet and the timings on the day are all ours to worry about.
Do we get anything lasting out of a fun day, or is it just a good few hours with the team?
Quite a lot, actually! People who have only ever met on an email thread end up on the same team, the person who joined three weeks ago stops being the new person, and the stories stay in circulation far longer than you’d expect. Your team also leaves with a memorable photo and video album to look back on, so the good times from the day can be relived long after it ends. A Fun day won’t resolve a specific problem, so if people aren’t communicating or collaborating, a Growth day is the better fit. But if you simply want your team to get together and make a great memory, that’s exactly what a Fun day is for.
