Psychological safety
Make it safe to speak up
The best teams say what they really think. This Growth day builds the psychological safety that lets people admit mistakes, challenge ideas and share the half-formed thought that turns out to matter.

Five team building activities built for psychological safety
Each one gives the team a real challenge to work through together, then we wrap the same guided reflection around it. Pick the one that fits your group, or ask us to recommend.
Dome-ination Trail Challenge
The Dome-ination Trail Challenge turns Gardens by the Bay into your team’s personal adventure playground. From the iconic Supertree Grove to the great domes, teams navigate themed zones solving location riddles and physical challenges against the clock. With a curated mix of easy, medium and tricky tasks, they have to plan their route, prioritise on the fly and adapt when something doesn’t go to plan, stepping out of their comfort zones to support each other to the finish. Teams come away with sharper communication, deeper bonds and a real feel for how they regroup under pressure.
Interactive 100 Challenge
The Interactive 100 Challenge is a digitally powered treasure hunt with a twist. It isn’t about who finishes first, it’s about who finishes exact. Teams race between stations scattered across the map, tackling fast physical feats and meaningful mental puzzles, each worth its own set of points. The goal? Land on a score of exactly 100. Not 101, not 99, exactly 100.
Starbound
Step onto the bridge of a struggling starship where the stakes are high and the clock is relentless. In this immersive simulation, your team must navigate a series of escalating crises where every voice matters, but only collective action ensures survival. It’s a fast-paced test of advocacy, leadership, and the art of staying calm while the alarms are sounding. The experience is immersive and high-energy, with moments of laughter alongside meaningful reflection. Teams quickly realise that success depends on how well they listen, align, and take ownership as a unit.
Breaking Barriers
Break those barriers that are holding you back from achieving your goals. Jambar’s breaking barriers helps people identify, acknowledge and overcome their fears and insecurities that are stopping them from achieving their goals. This is achieved by using mental strength and focus to physically break through a thick wooden board, a goal that initially seems unachievable. By the end of the session, participants will be overwhelmed with all the positive energy they gained through out the activity. They will feel a sense of achievement which will help them navigate through their barriers both in their personal and work lives.
Lego Serious Play
Lego Serious Play turns abstract conversations about teamwork into something you can build, see and touch. Using the science-backed “hand-mind connection,” participants construct Lego models as metaphors for how they work, then share and reflect on them together. Along the way, teams align on shared values and behaviours, gain a deeper understanding of each other’s individual strengths and perspectives, and pinpoint the key areas where better communication would boost performance. It’s a facilitated, insight-rich session where your team doesn’t just talk about working better together, they build it, see it, and feel it come to life.

For teams where people hold back
If any of these sound like your team, a psychological safety day helps people find their voice.

People double-check each other’s work instead of relying on it
Mistakes get hidden instead of surfaced and fixed
Meetings are quiet, and the real conversation happens afterwards
New or junior members don’t feel safe to contribute

Own mistakes
Admit slip-ups openly so the team can learn and move on.
Challenge ideas, not people
Disagree well, without it getting personal.
Hear every voice
Draw out the quieter people who often see the most.
Ask for help
Make it normal to say ‘I’m not sure’ or ‘I need a hand’.
Build real trust
Create the safety that lets people bring their whole self.
How a growth day works
The activity changes. The method doesn’t.
Whichever activity you choose, we wrap it in the same Frame → Pause → Commit method, so the day stays fun, but the psychological safety lessons actually stick.
Deep, hands-on facilitation. Facilitators draw out the learning at every step.
1
Pre-frame
Set the mindset for the day: be focused, curious, present and open to being vulnerable.
2
Targeted outcome
Facilitated discussion with videos & slides to name the one thing the team will focus on in the activity.
3
The activity
Run the experience with that focus front of mind, so the lesson plays out in real time.
4
Guided reflection
What did you notice? What went well? Were you able to hold the focus? Facilitators turn the experience into insight.
5
Moving forward
Build a concrete action plan for putting the learning to work back in the office.
A worksheet runs through every step, from pre-frame to forming the action plan at the end.
Frequently Asked Questions, answered
Who is this growth day for?
Teams where meetings are quiet and the good ideas turn up afterwards in the corridor. If people are wary of looking wrong, hesitate to flag a problem early, wait to see which way the room goes before speaking, or new and junior members don’t feel safe to contribute, this day is built for exactly that.
What will be different afterwards?
People speak up sooner, own their mistakes without bracing for it, and challenge an idea without it turning personal. The quieter voices get heard, and asking for help stops feeling like an admission and becomes a normal thing to do.
Why these activities?
We offer five activities, and each puts the team in a spot where staying quiet costs them something. Starbound sends a crew through escalating crises where every voice matters. The Interactive 100 Challenge is a digital treasure hunt where finishing exact matters more than finishing first, so teams have to plan together. Lego Serious Play lets people build, share and reflect on models of how they work, which opens up honest conversation. The Dome-ination Trail Challenge at Gardens by the Bay has teams plan, prioritise and adapt together, supporting each other out of their comfort zones. Breaking Barriers is the emotional one: people name the fears and insecurities holding them back, then break through a thick wooden board, which leaves them with a real sense of achievement.
How is this different from the Trust in Teams day?
Trust is about whether people can depend on each other’s word, while psychological safety is about whether it feels safe to say the awkward thing at all. If commitments keep slipping, start with trust. If people aren’t speaking up, start here.
Our team says everything’s fine. Is it still worth doing?
Often yes, and that’s part of what the day brings to the surface! Teams with a real safety gap rarely report one, because saying so is exactly the thing that feels risky. If you’ve noticed a difference between what’s said in the room and what’s said after it, that’s your signal.
