cross collaboration

Get departments working as one team

When teams work in silos, work slows and things fall through the cracks. This Growth day breaks down the walls between departments so people collaborate as one connected team.

Choose your activity

Four team building activities built for collaboration

Each one gives the team a real challenge to work through together and then we wrap the same guided reflection around it. Pick the one that fits your group, or ask us to recommend.

Indoor/Outdoor Activity

Graffiti Art

The Graffiti Art workshop empowers teams to translate company values and mission statements into bold, large-scale canvas masterpieces. Following a technical demonstration on stenciling and spray painting, groups brainstorm and execute original designs that symbolize their collective goals. This immersive experience breaks down creative barriers, fostering high-level collaboration and a shared sense of accomplishment as participants step into the role of street artists. Beyond the immediate energy of the workshop, teams walk away with custom artwork that serves as a vibrant, permanent reminder of their unified vision and creative potential.

Outdoor Activity

Collaborate!

Only those teams who learn to set aside their differences stand a chance to win Collaborate, an interactive team building exercise unlike any other. Collaborate is a mission-rich peer bonding activity with a twist: competing teams must work together to maximise their scores. Teams are spread out and each team receives tasks, questions, and other quirky, fun-filled assignments in a mobile app. Accomplish each mission to earn your team points. On some of these missions, however, you’ll need to interact with rival teams, then work with them to accomplish your assignments.

Change It Up

Step back into 14th-century Singapore with an immersive bartering challenge that tests your team’s ability to survive and thrive within a volatile social hierarchy. Divided into factions with varying levels of influence, participants must navigate historical crises like famine and disease by forging strategic alliances and mastering the art of the “win-win” negotiation. This high-stakes simulation hones collaborative problem-solving and change management, forcing teams to pivot their strategies to turn environmental threats into profitable opportunities.

Bridging the Gap

One of Jambar’s trademark creative builds, Bridging the Gap tasks your team with constructing a section of elevated racetrack from simple materials like dowels, tape and cardboard to a strict spec and a tight deadline. Every team’s segment is then chained into one full track and put to the test in a remote-control-car mini Grand Prix. Snags and unexpected developments are all part of it: teams have to make the most of limited time and resources, communicate under pressure and rally to get their section race-ready.

who is this growth day for

For teams stuck in Silos

If any of these sound familiar, a cross collaboration day gets everyone pulling together.

Departments work in silos and rarely talk until something breaks

Hand-offs between teams are clunky and things slip through

An ‘us versus them’ feeling between functions or offices

People don’t really know who does what across the wider team

Bringing together teams after a merger, reorg or fast growth

collaboration that connects

What your team
walks away with

Through a shared challenge and guided reflection, people from across the org learn to work as one and then carry that connection back into everyday hand-offs.

Break the silos

Turn separate departments into one connected team that genuinely works together.

Smooth the hand-offs

Make the pass between teams clean and clear, so nothing slips through the cracks.

Build cross-team trust

Get teams relying on each other’s word instead of quietly competing.

See the bigger picture

Understand how each team’s work fits together toward one shared goal.

Communicate across teams

Build the easy, direct communication that silos usually shut down.

Win together

Replace ‘us versus them’ with a shared win the whole org is chasing.

How a growth day works

The activity changes. The method doesn’t.

Whichever activity you choose, we wrap it in the same Frame → Pause → Commit method, so the day stays fun, but the collaboration lessons actually stick.

Deep, hands-on facilitation. Facilitators draw out the learning at every step.

1

Pre-frame

Set the mindset for the day: be focused, curious, present and open to being vulnerable.

2

Targeted outcome

Facilitated discussion with videos & slides to name the one thing the team will focus on in the activity.

3

The activity

Run the experience with that focus front of mind, so the lesson plays out in real time.

4

Guided reflection

What did you notice? What went well? Were you able to hold the focus? Facilitators turn the experience into insight.

5

Moving forward

Build a concrete action plan for putting the learning to work back in the office.

A worksheet runs through every step, from pre-frame to forming the action plan at the end.

Frequently Asked Questions, answered

Who is this growth day for?

Organisations where departments have drifted apart. Teams work in silos and rarely talk until something breaks, handovers are clunky, there’s an us versus them feeling between functions or offices, and nobody’s entirely sure what the others actually do. It’s also a great fit after a merger, a reorg or fast growth.

What will be different afterwards?

Handovers get cleaner because people know who’s on the other end. Teams stop competing where they shouldn’t, understand how their work connects towards one shared goal, and start talking to each other directly rather than escalating.

Why these activities?

We have four activities, and each one makes departments need each other. Bridging the Gap has each team build a section of an elevated racetrack, which gets chained into one full track for a remote control car Grand Prix, so it only works if the pieces line up. Collaborate! scores you higher for working with the team you’re supposedly competing against, and in Change It Up, factions form alliances and negotiate to get ahead together. Graffiti Art has teams turn company values into a large canvas artwork, creating something shared they can be proud of.

How many departments should we bring?

As many as you need! We run company wide events regularly, so the number of departments isn’t the constraint. What matters more is which ones: at least the departments that hand work to each other, and ideally the people who do the handing rather than only their managers. Tell us who’s involved and we’ll build the teams so the right people end up together.

How is it different from Connection & Belonging?

Cross collaboration is about how departments work together, while connection and belonging is about whether people feel part of the team at all. If the problem is collaboration, start here. If it’s that people barely know each other, start with connection and belonging.

Tell us the outcome you’re chasing and the team you’re bringing. We’ll shape a day that delivers it and is genuinely good fun along the way.
