Jambar Team Building has a diverse clientele with companies from all the major industries such as Banking & Finance, Education, Government, Data & Software, Manufacturing, Medical, Media, Fashion, Tech, Travel, Oil & Gas.
There is mounting evidence pointing that majority of innovative ideas come from the management or leadership teams. However, they typically make up only a small proportion of the workforce. To generate more of this creativity and innovation, employees can be encouraged to voice out their ideas and contribute as well. The question persists, how do we achieve this?
Jambar Team Building was recently approached by a client who’s facing this dilemma. Our team has discovered over the last 12 months that this is a hot topic with which many clients try very hard to look for a solution.
One specific client had a goal to inculcate innovation and encourage idea generation from their staff right from the get-go. Our team initiated meetings and needs assessment with them to help identify the outcomes our client needed. We arrived at a highly-customised and effective program to suit their objectives, implemented the flow meticulously, and in turn was able to generate the best results for them.
Idea generation is essential for an organisation to be innovative and adapt to changes in the modern world. But it’s not always easy. Things get mixed up and it becomes hard to differentiate a good idea from a bad one. Innovation and idea generation are two hard concepts to adapt in teams, particularly in those which have silo mentalities. One should understand what innovation really is and why is it important to innovate. People need to come together to generate realistic ideas that can be applied in an organisation. The process of generating new ideas needs to be simplified.
Jambar follows a customised process of weaving concepts into the teams through a series of steps. We introduced a methodology of creating impactful ideas that was developed by one of the most influential CEO’s of all time, Walt Disney. Using a 3 step process, we helped teams create ideas that can create a positive impact in their organisation and also how they can identify those ideas & bring them forward.
At the end of the event, people had a productive session forming lots of realistic new ideas and they also learned how to collaborate with each other in the process.
It is not uncommon for healthcare workers to face communication barriers in their workplace due to silos. These silos are often caused by the differences in their roles, functions and even in their styles of working. We see various roles and positions in the medical industry and they typically range from entry level positions such as admin workers to expert/specialised level positions such as surgeons.
These variations of work responsibilities often hamper collaboration opportunities among the employees. This persistent lack of communication and interaction gradually creates a bad culture in the organisation. As a result, there will often be mistakes, higher employee dissatisfaction, and a cause of negative work environment.
Another essential requirement of being in this industry is the continuous need for innovation. Creativity in today’s world is vital and essential for businesses to grow and gain long-term sustainability. Moreover, creativity opens new doors to businesses and opportunities, which is why companies like Google encourage employees to devote 20% of their time to side projects.
When Jambar was approached by the client with similar issues, these kinds of issues were identified to be commonly observed in companies which have a diverse culture and demographic in their workforce. Aforementioned, the client was seeking to resolve the communication barriers between their teams and also improve the creativity of their people.
Jambar customised a one-day team building event to deliver the client’s objectives and messages to their people. Employees of different cultures and demographics were able to interact and learn more about each other through the exciting games and activities in the program. Not only that, challenging tasks aid to trigger the thinking process of the people and ignite their creativity.
Nowadays, one of the most essential objectives for employees is to help them connect with the company’s vision and values. When people are engaged at work, they feel personally committed to the organizations goals, missions and values. It is very important for the company to live up to their promises because no matter how impressive or persuasive the message is, if it does not resonate with the employees day-to-day experiences, they will not connect with it. A clear vision acts as a unifying force and a guide for employee’s decision making. It can truly motivate and inspire an individual to understand and align with the core values and vision of the organization.
An interested client came up to us with a need – and that is to steer their organization to even greater heights by revealing and emphasizing their company’s new mission, vision, and values.
Jambar Team Building, a leader in training, team building, and innovative programs crafted a hands-on, team-based experience to meet the client’s needs. To achieve this, our team took a classic Art Jamming experience and enhanced it further with instructional tweaks; such that all team members become more engaged. Art Jamming is a hands-on activity which would help teams visualize their vision and connect with people together. We pre-created a picture for them and each team got a piece of that picture. The keywords of the values were pre-written onto the picture we created and then for each slice they had the opportunity to customize to what they believe their values represented for them. We created specific color palettes for each group to create a very diverse and vibrant picture.
The participants were awed when they combined all the pictures together to create a beautiful abstract piece that read the vision, mission and values; loud and clear. It showed teamwork and engagement and also proved that individual work has an impact on the whole team. It was a great experience for people to self-reflect and think about what life fulfilled meant for them. From pictures of family to vacations in Paris, they drew in different perspectives of what life fulfilled looks for them. Our expert facilitator increased the value of the experience through facilitator touchpoints where short, powerful insights were shared to boost the effect of the vision, mission, and values understanding.
Jambar Team Building incorporates some fundamental principals in all our events, talking about people having a deeper connection with each other alongside having fun as well as giving them practical tools that they can use in their life to communicate better. The clients were indeed content and pleasantly surprised by the final outcome of the picture. This piece de resistance represented the teamwork and how believing in shared values and vision can create something extraordinary.
